made. . . . “. . . If we value temporary or worldly pleasures more than we value eternal blessings, then we may lose those blessings”

27. Abraham
He desired righteousness. A false priest tried to sacrifice him when he was young, and years later he was asked to
sacrifice his son Isaac. He made covenants with God, which were later renewed with Isaac.

28. Jacob
He was one of Isaac’s sons. His name was changed to Israel. He had 12 sons, whose descendants became known
as the twelve tribes of Israel.
Jacob was the younger of the two sons of Isaac (see Genesis 25:24–26). His name was changed to Israel (see Genesis
32:28), and his 12 sons and their descendants have become known as the twelve tribes of Israel or the children of Israel
(see Guide to the Scriptures, “Israel,” scriptures.lds.org).
